Before a little  / position

Before noun

Refer to nouns mentioned earlier in a sentence

eg : I used a pencil . The pencil was provided by the hotel .
A lot of a lots of one are common in informal style .They mean the same .
eg : A little (Singular/uncountable)

In conversation we use only a little / a few
